To ensure a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching Pioneer Trek experience, we have established the following dress code guidelines for all participants. While traditional pioneer attire is optional, adherence to these guidelines will help maintain the spirit of the event and ensure participant well-being.
General Guidelines for All Participants
- Shirts: Long-sleeved, button-up shirts made from lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton are recommended. Long sleeves offer protection from the sun and insects.
- Pants/Skirts:
- Young Women: Long pants made from durable, breathable materials are advised. Avoid denim to reduce the risk of chafing. Skirts (if you choose to wear one) should be mid-calf length, approximately 6 inches from the ground, to prevent tripping and entanglement with handcart wheels.
- Young Men: Long pants made from durable, breathable materials are advised. Avoid denim to reduce the risk of chafing.
- Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots that are well broken-in are essential to prevent blisters and provide adequate support during long walks.
- Headwear: Wide-brimmed hats are recommended for sun protection. Baseball caps, beanies, or military-style hats are discouraged.
- Outerwear: A lightweight jacket and rain gear should be kept accessible, as weather conditions can change rapidly.
- Accessories:
- Neckerchiefs: These can help keep dust out of the mouth and nose and provide additional sun protection.
- Sunglasses: Permitted for eye protection.
- Avoid:
- Rolling up sleeves or pant legs, as this exposes skin to sunburn and insect bites.
- Modern clothing items such as tank tops, shorts, or graphic t-shirts, to maintain the event’s spirit.
Additional Recommendations
- Layering: Dress in layers to adapt to fluctuating temperatures throughout the day.
- Modesty: Ensure that all clothing choices align with principles of modesty, reflecting the event’s spiritual nature.
- Personal Comfort: Choose clothing that allows for ease of movement and personal comfort during physical activities.
