Inspirational Thoughts

As we prepare for our upcoming Stake Pioneer Trek to Martin’s Cove, Wyoming, scheduled for June 11–14, 2025, we have a unique opportunity to deepen our faith and unity. This journey aligns with the 2025 youth theme, “Look unto Christ,” inspired by Doctrine and Covenants 6:36, which encourages us to “look unto [Christ] in every thought; doubt not, fear not.”
Participating in the Trek allows us to grow in love for God and each other. Elder Dallin H. Oaks once asked, “Do you, like the pioneers, have the courage and the consistency to be true to the faith and endure to the end?” Reflecting on this, our journey together can strengthen our commitment to the Savior and to one another.
Engaging in such activities also provides avenues to connect more deeply with both friends and heaven. Elder Gerrit W. Gong taught, “Connecting with our ancestors can change our lives in surprising ways.” By understanding their experiences, we gain insights that draw us closer to the divine and to each other.
To enrich this experience, Brother & Sister Jorgenson have encouraged each of you to select an ancestor or historical figure and walk in their footsteps during the Trek. President Russell M. Nelson has emphasized, “Your worship in the temple and your service there for your ancestors will bless you with increased personal revelation and peace.” Even if your lineage doesn’t include pioneers, choosing someone whose experiences resonate with you can provide valuable insights and inspiration.
By participating in this Trek, we honor our ancestors’ legacy, strengthen our faith, and draw nearer to the Savior. May we all embrace this opportunity to “look unto Christ” and deepen our connections to heaven and each other.
